Intro to generative AI (In Person + Online) In-Person / Online
Generative AI tools such as Copilot are already making large waves across all industries. As a student, what should you be aware of, or be careful of, and how can you use Generative AI in your studies?
The Peer Learning Advisors will be providing you with student and library experience in Generative AI tools.
Learn more about:
-
Understand the basics of generative AI and how CoPilot fits into this field.
-
Understand how Generative AI works, including the architecture and training process of the GPT-4 model.
-
Be aware that most Large Language Models (LLMs) retain the data you input. Learn how to "opt out" of this data retention by adjusting the settings in ChatGPT or, for Microsoft Copilot, by logging into your institutional account.
-
Explore the potential areas and applications of Generative AI, identifying where it has already made an impact, with a specific emphasis on enhancing learning and time management activities.
-
Understand the considerations of Generative AI, including issues related to bias, recency of data, and limited context awareness.
-
Awareness of where to access common LLMs and Generative AI tools.
-
Develop further understanding of tools mimicry of perceived human patterns through a hands-on experience with a language-based game.
