How to HDR - Networking: Creating Opportunities through Connections In-Person
Professional networking to secure connections, contacts, potential employment or funding can be daunting and challenging, but it’s an integral part of the PhD/research process. Whether it’s inviting your academic idol for a coffee, joining a table of strangers at a conference dinner or finding potential research collaborators, professional networking is the way to create opportunities through connecting.
This session will be part panel, part interactive workshop and an opportunity for you to mingle with other HDR students.
Guest speakers will include a mix of current higher degree research (HDR) students and researchers who will share their networking tips and stories. In a half hour workshop the Careers Centre will provide practical strategies to take the work and the worry out of networking. You’ll then continue the chat and put in practice your networking skills in a friendly peer-to-peer environment over pizza!
